On September 15 we lost Gāb to kidney disease.
We’re still kind of in shock, but to make a long story short: we took him in to get some dental work done and were told they couldn’t do it because his kidneys were failing. We had him tested and it isn’t genetic, thank goodness. We knew this could happen someday because we know he didn’t necessarily have the best care when he was young— we just didn’t think it would happen so soon…
They gave us medication to help the symptoms and pain medication to keep him comfortable, and he got to be home with us and his girls for another week before crossing the rainbow bridge.
We’re happy that he’s no longer in pain, but we really will miss him terribly…
