I finally got around to updating our 2026 Litter Planning Calendar!
The dates are our best guess for now — they’ll almost certainly change (because cats love keeping me on my toes). I’ll tweak things as they shift throughout the year.
For anyone who's curious about how all of this works:
I build the calendar by studying each queen’s previous litters — looking at the average time between heats, pregnancies, and births — and using that to estimate when she’s most likely to cycle again. Clint has a line on one of his spreadsheets that averages together each queen's last three litters, to predict the next one. (We're usually pretty close, but sometimes they surprise us, and we adjust as needed.)
For our newer queens, we don’t have that pattern yet, so I start with a general estimate based on how most girls tend to settle into their rhythm. In early litters, many go into heat when their kittens are around 14 weeks old, but that spacing often shortens a bit as they mature. Once we’ve seen a few cycles, Clint's spreadsheet is able to do its job and give us more accurate predictions.
As the year goes on, the calendar will likely become more out of sync with reality, and once I notice I'll adjust it again.
As a quick note — if you’re hoping for a kitten from a particular queen or around a certain season, it’s best to place your deposit as soon as you know you’d like a kitten from us. That helps secure your spot on the waitlist and gives you the best chance of being matched with your preferred timing or litter.
You can read more about how our process works on our Process page.
